Charalambous was born in Nicosia Cyprus in 1979. He holds an Associate Professor (tenured) position within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Cyprus as of January 2016. His academic qualifications include a first Class B.Eng. Degree in E.E.E from UMIST, U.K in 2002 and a Ph.D. in Electrical Power Engineering from the University of Manchester in 2006, which was sponsored by the prestigious O.R.S award scheme and Intertek CAPCIS. In 2005 and upon the submission of his PhD thesis, he was employed by the National Grid High Voltage Research Centre of The University of Manchester, until June 2010. From June 2010 until December 2015 he was an Assistant Professor within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Cyprus.  He is a Member of the IEEE, IEΤ, and the Technical Chamber of Cyprus. His research activity is characterized by the robust links with industry, both locally and internationally: Alstom Grid Technology Centre (UK), National Grid (UK), Intertek CAPCIS (UK), ELEMKO SA (GR), Electricity Authority Cyprus (CY), Transmission System Operator (CY), Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority (CY) and Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CY). He is currently leading the Power Systems Modeling Laboratory (PSM) at the University of Cyprus.
